5 ways to take better photos with your iPhone

1 - GRID / FOCUS POINT TO CREATE DIMENSION:

It doesn't really matter what generation of iPhone is being used, since the beginning their cameras have been performing pretty good. The preset mode already tries to focus and keeps depth in the photos, but It can be done manually as well. Is there any need to know photography focus range and terminology to do this? No, it just takes the tap of a finger. Tapping in any place on the screen will make a yellow box appear. This will establish the foreground, what’s closer. The main item selected will stand out and the rest should not be as distracting. This feature is found in normal ¨Photo¨ mode

ADDITIONAL TIP: Keep the lens clean. Phones are always being manipulated with hands and even without intention, the lens somehow gets fingerprints smudged. Dust and oil mixture stains affect the performance of the camera.

2 - STOP STRUGGLING WITH MOVING PHOTOS & CAPTURE THE REAL ESSENCE:

Dealing with moving things can be a challenge when wanting to capture the ideal composition. Having to repeat a scene again and again can be tiring. Use the Burst Mode instead. As the movement takes place, hold the center button without letting go, so the camera takes multiple shots. The phone will automatically create a collection of all the shots for easy viewing and selection. Dynamic shots can accentuate and provide real feel. Freezing an important movement can portrait the business better than words.

ADDITIONAL TIP: After choosing the right photo, delete the rest so the phone doesn't get filled with tons of photos.

3 - APPLY THE EDITING FEATURES ON THE IPHONE TO SUPPORT YOUR BRAND

Many environmental factors can determine the photo light, shadows, predominant color, etc. Don't be disappointed if the photos don't meet the expectations. The iPhone has editing tools that add what's missing and improve the look aspect that the brand needs.

Even little things like a straight horizon can make a difference, it gives a professional look. Light can be added as well as exposure. Even allows to accentuate an undertone (warm or cool). To unify the brand style, there must be specific features along every content, like a framework. Decide a visual style that represents the business and apply it with the editing tools to achieve the style in every shoot.

ADDITIONAL TIP: Choose the most friendly Editing App that helps to achieve what the brand needs. Our favorites are VSCO and SNAPSEED.

4 - TIRED OF HEARING ¨LESS IS MORE¨?

There must be a reason why we keep hearing the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). While promoting the brand and the business, it is important to deliver the message as simple and fast as possible. There’s no need to challenge the mind of the audience. This applies to the photos as well. Keep the  main object at a frontal visual level and don't let the background be a distraction. Visual saturation causes confusion. There’s no photo number limitation. Dedicate a photo to each object / item / idea. The purpose is fast viewer perception. Fast recognition of the product is key to persuade the person to buy and consume.

ADDITIONAL TIP: Try different angles of the same composition. Focus on various details and even get closer to capture textures.

5 - ORGANIZE EVERY SHOOT IN YOUR iPHONE

The latest update came with a new feature that helps fast search of a specific object in the phone photo collection. When planning social media posts, think of the ideal response from viewers. Content saturation in a short period of time can become a conflict. Distribute the content in a strategic way. Create a Specific Name Album and store each shoot. Involve other team members by sharing an Album with them. Ask for feedback in the comment section of each photo. Organization is key when managing a business, and photo content is not an exception. What about past photos that can be used as well? Now there is a search option where a keyword will detect them in the collection.

ADDITIONAL TIP: Seeing an organized Album can help visualize the style and color palette throughout.
