EMS - When accidents happen
EMS Ambulancias Guatemala provides medical care and ambulance services in Guatemala City. They've designed memberships and annual plans to suit each person’s needs, giving them the option to include their family members. Their mission is to save lives and give the best medical care to a patient in need and transport them to a Hospital if needed. They use the best gear and tools available on the market to provide a quickest assistance possible.
To understand how important EMS’ position is in Guatemala we needed to see the country’s emergency rate. According to a study made by the ONSET (Observatorio Nacional de Seguridad del Tránsito) around 20 car accidents are registered per day. The number of people that need an ambulance per day is significantly high if we consider the emergencies that happen outside the city as well.
Do you know what it takes to be a paramedics and where their responsibilities fall at? First, they go through rigorous driving training to ensure a safe and fast trip to the hospital, reducing the time is takes to get the patient our of the risk zone. During the ride, paramedics have the ability to identify conditions and circumstances that could be life threatening. EMS paramedics have a true passion for what they do. They can make a difference in the lives of people like you and me.
¨Creativity, teamwork and quality. We love working with Little Pi, they take their time to get to know the company in depth in order to communicate our DNA to our clients¨
EMS opened their doors in early 2020. What a year to start, right? The year that will forever be remembered thanks to COVID-19. Just a few months after starting, they had to ensure the safety of their paramedics in order to attend the regular emergencies that happened every day. COVID did not make all the other illnesses go away, so EMS had to step up their game. So in light of this risk, EMS established new protocols within the team as well as with their patients. Hazmat suits were a must and fear started to spread across the city.
EMS’ Ambulances are beautiful, so we had no trouble finding the right shots to highlight their best angle. We enjoyed creating content for them as the knowledge to share was infinite. We were their first social media hire, and this placed a great responsibility on our shoulders. We needed to communicate to their clients that EMS was worthy of their trust and that they were not a risk to their family. Our team at Little Pi took a scary moment and nurtured safety and tranquility to clients through the use of illustrations and selfie photos of our paramedics using their masks.
¨ We never used any marketing tools before LittlePi, they opened up the doors for us and taught us how to better understand social media and get the best of it. ¨
We were lucky enough to their paramedic’s stories, but in particular Sergio’s story
After hearing his testimonial about one specific day he had at work, we knew it had to be shared with the world. Most of us can only imagine what paramedics go through, but we don’t hear them as often, so we made it our mission to share their lessons learned so that others can feel inspired to help their neighbors.
Here is part of Sergio’s story.
¨ When we first approached the scene of the car accident, we were told that none of the family members inside the vehicle had survived. I was told there were three victims, but I could only see the parents when I noticed a small hand in the mom’s arms. A 9-month young baby impacted against the dashboard and was killed instantly. A simple car seat would have saved her life. In that moment I thought about my own baby girl and how important it is to make sure children are safely secured in their car seats and not held in your arms. ¨
Sergio’s story was raw but everyone can learn from his experience. On April 9th we shared his story with the hope that people would remember how fragile someone’s life can be and the reason why baby car seats exist. At the end, the story touched many, reaching the highest recorded views and positive comments towards the team.
¨ All of us have stories to tell. Us Paramedics have had experiences that have marked us forever, and in some cases those events are the reason why we decided to work in our field. Sharing these stories help us save lives in the future which is the only thing we can ask for. ¨
Nothing can stop them from fulfilling their passion . They always work with a smile on their faces (even if you can’t physically see them) Not even 2020 could stop them from working 24/7.
