Get artsy with your lens!

There are some effects that you just cannot achieve in post production. There are some tricks that can be used in a shoot to create different effects on the photos. There is no need to have fancy and professional camera accessories. Artsy tricks can be done with any type of lens.

RECOMMENDATION

An important thing to keep in mind is, to make sure that you do all these tricks, always being careful with your lens, we recommend having an UV filter so no accidents happen directly to your lens. It is cheaper to replace a filter than your lens!  

We are going to show you how to obtain creative and innovative effects on photos. First, we’ll start with the common image with no additional effect.

Holding a flower or plant close enough to the lens.

Holding lace close to the lens but not covering the subject.

A multi-faceted clear crystal, we used a prism lens px filter. But you can use any facet crystal to create this effect:

A reflective surface below or on top of your lens (a phone works):

All these tricks are very subjective so move the things around the lens to find that sweet spot!
